Operating Theatre
The simulated operating theatre consists of several specialised rooms designed to provide a training infrastructure that closely replicates a real hospital environment.
It includes changing rooms, a classroom for theoretical lectures or pre- and post-simulation discussions, and three skills training rooms where the following techniques can be practised and enhanced:
- Surgical skills using a variety of simulators
- Microsurgery skills using an ophthalmic microscope
- Laparoscopic skills using both trainers (LapBox) and virtual reality simulators (LapSim, LapMentor)
- Arthroscopy skills using a simulator (VirtaMed ArthroS)
An additional operating theatre unit comprises a pre-surgery room, an operating theatre, and a post-operative recovery room. These rooms are equipped with medical devices, instruments, and materials consistent with a clinical hospital setting. The operating theatre features SIMStation system cameras that provide audio and video transmission to the debriefing room, as well as a separate instructor room for managing and coordinating simulations.
